This Maple Burl Bowl is 13″ in diameter and is filled with lots of quilting. Quilted Maple has a different look at various angles that you look at it. It is finished with a Manufactured Salad Bowl Finish. The brownish color at each end is called spalting.

The extremely beautiful Natural Edge Maple Burl Bowl was made for the tree surgeon who found the piece of wood. It is 15 inches in diameter and 1 1/ 4″ thick.

This 13 inch Natural Edge, Monkey Puzzle Salad Bowl has been turned from the end of the log. This shows the growth rings. The dark streaks are caused by bacteria which invades the tree when it is dying. This is called spalting.

This 8 inch Box Elder Bowl was decorated by pyrography – burning. It is finished with several coats of Manufactured Salad Bowl Finish. Box Elder is sometimes referred to as Manitoba Maple. The red is caused by a bacteria which invades the tree when it is dying. This process is called spalting.
